Best Darn Chocolate Chip Macaroons

There is a difference between a macaron and a macaroon. These...are macaroons. And they are freaking fantastic.

I lost count of how many variations of coconut macaroons I have tried to make in the past. I finally found the perfect recipe thanks to Hunt & Harvest. These. Are. Incredible.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 12-15 minutes
Makes: about 15 macaroons


2 egg whites
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
2 cups shredded (sweetened) coconut
2/3 cup chocolate chips (I prefer semi-sweet for this recipe)

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Whisk egg whites until foamy
  • Add sugar, vanilla, and salt - stir
  • Add in coconut and chocolate chips and coat with the sugar mixture
  • Form tablespoon-sized balls between your fingers and a spoon and place on a well greased cookie sheet (mine stuck to the wax paper)
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes at 350°F until the edges are golden brown

Try not to eat the entire pan in one sitting.
