Strawberry Basil Margarita

I first made this drink on a whim before heading to a work picnic. It turned out to be such a success that I have made it several times this summer. It is based loosely on a Strawberry Basil Cosmopolitan that I used to make during my bartending days and it could not be any easier.

You will need:

A large pitcher or drink dispenser
2 cans (24 oz) of Limeade from concentrate
15 Strawberries
15 Basil leaves
12 oz (1 can) of Water
24 oz (2 cans) of Silver tequila
6 oz (1/2 can) of Triple sec

First, I empty the frozen limeade into my pitcher. This way I can use the can to measure my water, tequila, and triple sec.

Next, blend the strawberries, basil, and water. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and there are no large basil chunks.

Finally, add the strawberry/basil mixture to your pitcher along with the tequila and triple sec. Fill will ice. Since I am usually bringing this to an outdoor picnic on a hot summer day, I like to overfill it with ice. You need the ice to dull the sting of the tequila. If you aren't using as much ice, I recommend adding another can (12 oz) of water.

Stir well and serve.

See, it doesn't get much easier!

What is your favorite summer drink?

XO, Bev
