le Metropolitan

If Sex and the City took place in Paris instead of New York City, the girls would be sipping on metropolitans instead of cosmopolitans.

A traditional cosmopolitan is a drink made with vodka, triple sec (or Cointreau), cranberry juice, and a squeeze of lime. I was playing around with our bar one night and came up with this simple French twist using St. Germaine instead of Cointreau.

INGREDIENTS:

2 parts vodka
1 part St. Germain
1/2 - 1 part cranberry juice (I prefer to use 100% juice so I use a little bit less than if I were using cranberry juice cocktail)
squeeze of lime (optional)
ice

DIRECTIONS:

Add ice, vodka, St. Germain, and cranberry juice* to a cocktail shaker. Shake, shake, shake it lots (to the tune of Taylor Swift). Serve up (martini glass with no ice).

*You can add a squeeze of lime but I prefer it without. I find that the acidity in the lime overpowers the delicate elderflower taste in the St. Germain.

Have you ever tried St. Germain?

XO, Bev
