Game Night

Game night is one of mine and Keith's favorite activities. I thought that it might be fun to share some of our favorite games and possibly inspire you to have a game night of your own.

I'm happy to see that Settlers of Catan has gotten more popular recently. It is a great board game for up to 4 people, or you can buy an expansion to play with 5 or 6.

I recommend starting with the U.S. edition. Ticket To Ride - Europe adds a few extra actions that can be overwhelming if it is your first time playing.

WARNING! This game may (will) cause yelling and fighting. If you ever played Mafia as a kid at summer camp, you'll catch onto the strategy needed for this game pretty quickly.

This is one of those games that borders on almost too nerdy. There are a lot of cards involved and it requires a different way of thinking. If I have fun playing it though, I think that most other people would too.

Both of these games are great for just about any crowd. I remember playing Rummikub with my grandma when I was a little kid. Sequence is a lot of fun to play with a group of 4.

Pandemic

Pandemic is unlike any game that I have ever played before. It is a cooperative game - so everyone is playing on the same team. Your goal is to rid the world of different diseases and the end always gets a little bit intense.

Power Grid

Again, this game isn't like any other game I have played before. You are trying to build and power the most cities while also blocking your oponents. It is tricky to explain so have patience with the directions the first time.

Cribbage and Backgammon

Cribbage and Backgammon are total classics and will always be favorites of mine. I think that they get overlooked sometimes but we always have them nearby.

Can you believe that this is only some of our board game collection? We even incorporated games into our wedding!

What are your favorite games to play for game night?

XO, Bev
